A pioneering step of KES College is the creation of the Pharmacy Assistants’ Programme. This two-year programme offers full-time attendance leading to a Diploma. The Pharmacy Assistant programme is the first in Cyprus, is registered in the Register of the Ministry of Education and Culture and is also evaluated – Certified by the Council of Educational Evaluation – Accreditation [C.E.E.A].
The profession of Pharmacy Assistant is a responsible and, at the same time, interesting paramedical profession related to Health and more specifically to the pharmacy.
The Pharmacy Assistant (Technician) duties include:

General support of pharmacies in private and public pharmacies (help with prescriptions, drug management, etc.)
- Performing specific tasks in medical centres (eg preparation of appropriate concentration of anti-cancer drugs, etc.)
- Support of pharmacists in specialised departments of the State Pharmaceutical Services

Human Anatomy
The aim of the course is to enable students to understand the construction of the human body and be able to refer to the main bones of the human skeleton structure as well as to the anatomical levels of the body.
General and Inorganic Chemistry
The main purpose of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of General and Inorganic Chemistry which are essential for the understanding and consolidation of the knowledge required by a Medical Representative.
Cell Biology
The aim of the course is to cover basic aspects of Cell Biology so that the students can adequately understand the structure and function of the cell. Emphasis is placed on the organic structure of the cell as well as on cell biomolecules (proteins, polysaccharides, lipids and nucleic acids).
General English
The objective of the course is to introduce and familiarize students with the English language, and further development their writing and oral skills.
Safety and Hygiene at Work
The course introduces students to safety and Hygiene issues in the workplace.
First aid
The First Aid course enables students to acquire the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge of first aid. The correct consolidation of these knowledge will enable them to apply the acquired knowledge in the future, to think and act properly in emergencies on injuries or accidents.
Elements of Statistics / Accounting
The Elements of Statistics / Accounting course aims to familiarize students with the main parameters involved in the introduction to Accounting and Biostatistics. In this module the student is introduced in the field of accounting at basic level as well as in the concepts of statistics from the perspective of Biostatistics.
Basic Principles and Computers Applications
The Basic Principles and Computers Applications course enables students to understand the main concepts of Information Technology (IT) and to acquire knowledge and skills in using the basic functions of a computer. Students will also be able to use a text editor application, a worksheet application, a presentation application, and understand the terms of using the Internet and the concepts of e-mail.
Physiology I
The course aims to offer in-depth understanding of the physiological processes of the human body and familiarize students with the physiological functions of the cells, organs and the main human systems. Students will gain an understanding of the main elements of physiology of the circulatory, digestive, lymphatic and respiratory systems of the human body.
Organic Chemistry
The main objective of the course is for students to acquire basic knowledge of Organic Chemistry with the final result of having the knowledge necessary for the profession of pharmacy assistant.
Pharmacy Law and Ethics
The aim of the course is provide students with the essential knowledge of important legal regulations concerning the medical and pharmaceutical practice. The students will be prepared to work as medical representatives following the up-to-date existing regulations. Furthermore, students will get in touch with several aspects of Bioethics, ethical dilemmas and considerations of issues that are emerging from biomedical advances.
English Terminology
The objective of the course is to introduce and familiarize students with the English language, and further development their writing and oral skills.
Introduction to Pharmacology
The Introduction to Pharmacology course aims to bring students into contact with the pharmacology course. Pharmacy Assistants after completing the course will be familiar with the basic concepts of pharmacology and will get a general idea of the drugs, categories and methodology of their classification. They will also be able to recognize the abbreviations and units of measurement used in medicines as well as how to obtain the necessary information for their rational use.
Organization and Pharmacy Management Software
The course is the familiarization of students with the main parameters involved in the organization and operation of the pharmacy. Additionally, learning the Win – Pharm program software specifically for POS operations and preparing and receiving electronic orders by printing the relevant labels. Particular emphasis will be given to the preparation of reports that will serve for improvement / corrective actions aimed at more rational management of stocks.
Pharmaceutical Microbiology
The course of Pharmacy Microbiology introduces students to the general principles of Microbiology with a particular orientation on the side of Microbiology that is related to man and especially to medicine.
Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Elements of Chemistry of Natural Products Pharmacology The aim of this course is to provide students with the basic chemical characteristics of substances used in pharmacy.
Pharmacology I
The course’s aim is to introduce the science of Pharmacology to the students, preparing them for future clinical practice. The students will get to know the various categories and mechanisms of action of medicines that are used for the management of inflammation, pain, basic diseases of the nervous, cardiovascular, digestive and respiratory system.
Food Supplements
The course “Nutritional Supplements” is to adequately build students on knowledge related to nutrients, their necessity and the importance of nutritional supplements.
Natural Pharmaceutical Products
The course aims at informing the students and their relative understanding of the basic elements referring to pharmacologically active ingredients of natural origin.
Elements of Pharmaceutical Technology
The course “Elements of Pharmaceutical Technology” is the description and understanding by the student of the main pharmaceutical forms as well as the physicochemical and pharmaceutical texturing processes related to them.
Practical Training (in pharmacy) I
The course “Practical Training (in pharmacy) I” is the familiarization of students with the working reality that governs the field of Pharmacy Techniques and the application of theoretical knowledge in a real environment. It also aims at creating new opportunities for professional rehabilitation of graduates of the Program of Study.
Pharmacology II
The course in Pharmacology II aims to make students aware of the drugs used to treat diseases of the endocrine, renal and immune systems. Antibiotics, antifungals, antiparasitics and anti-cancer drugs are also covered. There is also a reference to vitamins, medications applied to the eye, nose, ears, skin and drugs that face the virus, Alzheimer’s disease, erectile dysfunction and osteoporosis.
Quality Control of Medicines
The course introduces the students to the theoretical background of the instrumental drug analysis, but at the same time the students come in contact with the practical field of pharmaceutical analysis.
Special courses in Cosmetology
The course is the adequate construction of students in knowledge related to the types, preparation, maintenance, circulation, use and properties of cosmetic preparations.
Specialized Pharmacology: Formulary
The course “Specialized Pharmacology: Formulary” is the familiarization of the student with the names of the most commonly prescribed drugs.
Pharmacy Marketing
The “Pharmacy Marketing” course is familiarizing students with the main parameters involved in the organization of the pharmacy (ordering procedures, receiving and storing pharmaceuticals and handling the pharmacy equipment).
Preparation and Control of Pharmaceutical Forms
The course aims at educating students to possess basic knowledge of pharmaceutical practice including the rules for managing cytostatic drugs and first aids.
Practical Training (in pharmacy) II
The course “Practical Training (in pharmacy) II” is the familiarization of students with the working reality that governs the field of Pharmacy Techniques and the application of theoretical knowledge in a real environment. It also aims at creating new opportunities for professional rehabilitation of graduates of the Program of Study.

He is a holder of an undergraduate university Degree and an MSc in Physical Education from the University of Semmelweis while he is also in the process of obtaining a postgraduate qualification in Special Inclusive Education from the European University of Cyprus. He has a Masters Degree in ‘Environmental and Natural Resource Management’ and a Bachelors’ Degree in ‘Natural Environment Protection’, from Ioannina University. Mr Athanasiou attained a number of educational seminars related to ‘Health and Safety’ and has a great experience in training employees in the specific domain. He also has the title of ‘E.X.Y.P.P- Health and Safety Certified Consultant’ from the Ministry of Labour of the Cyprus Republic. In addition, Mr Athanasiou had worked as a Health and Safety Manager in large companies in Cyprus. Moreover, since 2010, Mr Athanasiou is the President of the Cyprus Environmental Association and a Scientific Consultant Partner of other associations and companies.

Mr Charalambous works at the litigation department of the law offices of Michael Kyprianou & Co LLC as a Lawyer and his practice encompasses civil and criminal disputes. He is also heading the Intellectual property department of the firm. She has 14 years of experience in teaching young learners and 12 years of experience as a Lecturer at Higher Education Institutions. In addition, she has attended several seminars regarding teaching methods to young learners organized mostly by Cambridge ESOL. She teaches subjects of her specialty.

Ms Sophocleous is a holder of a PhD with the topic: Associations between Cypriot’s children television food advertising exposure and their eating behavior: An observational and diagnostic survey with the use of questionnaires and eating behavior tests in 1088 Cypriot children. She has in-depth experience as a Medical Representative of a Pharmaceutical company. From 2010-2018 she has her own personal nutrition practice.

Publications of his research teams have a significant impact and are featured in leading scientific journals, with research findings having been presented in +30 primarily international conferences. He is also a reviewer for more than 10 international journals and has designed and supervised over 30 Thesis. Trained in Switzerland (Inst. of Botany, Univ. Basel) and Greece (Dept of Biology, Univ. of Patras) in Biology (BSc), in Ecology and Environmental Management (MSc) and in Dendro- Ecology/Climatology and Plant Science (PhD), he has been employed: (i) at the Dept of Biological Sciences of the Univ. of Cyprus (having held the positions of Assistant Professor-Academic Visitor and Special Scientist for Research & Lecturing), (ii) at the Open Univ. of Cyprus (as Academic Coordinator, Adjunct Faculty Tutor & Master’s Thesis Supervisor of the Environmental Conservation and Management Postgraduate Program), (iii) at the Dept of Life Sciences, European Univ. of Cyprus and (iv) at KES College in Cyprus (as Coordinator of the Environmental Management and of the Organic Products Technicians’ Programs).
